Min Wae Aung (1960-) is an international contemporary artist from Myanmar whose realistic work is characterized by its strong relationship to Burmese culture and Buddhist philosophy. He is the owner of New Treasure Art Gallery in Yangon’s Golden Valley. Studied under Ba Yin Gyi, Ba Yin Galay, Rangoon Ba Swe, Kyaw Hlaing, Thu Kha, M. Tin Aye, U Goon, U Dagon Than, U Mya Aye. Early 1990s paintings were largely natural landscapes, market scenes, portraits. Exhibited at 4th Asian Art Show, Fukuoka, 1994 and TRESORS, Singapore, 1994 with works in catalogs. Subsequently became known internationally for his monk works. Attended ASEAN AA as guest artist, 1998.
