Saya Aye, ဆရာအေး (1872-1930), major early Traditional painter. Studied under Chone. Believed to have studied Western painting under Mg Mg Gyi. Did some dramatic Western-Style portraits despite lack of formal training in Western art, and in this respect had a radical impact on early 20th-century Burmese painting. Said to have participated in an exhibition with Saya Mya under “Royal” c.1909, but this has not been verified. He had a major influence on the history of Burmese painting in the first decades of the 20th century.
